Baghdad Underground
You wouldn’t expect to find such nightlife in Baghdad. Electronic parties on the Tigris river bank, rock bands playing in clubs and bars, young girls playing music in cafes. As Sally Mars, the first girl who started playing heavy metal with an electrical guitar in Baghdad. Baghdad is undergoing a renaissance of sorts. Cafes, clubs and bars are proliferating in the Iraqi capital. “I do parties not to make money, I want to promote another Iraq to the world and make young people having fun”, explains Arshed B., founder of Riot Gear, a self-financed group, born in 2014 aimed to organise entertainment car events and electronic parties in the capital.
